Fisher - Fisher was founded in the US by Avery Fisher in 1937, when Sanyo itself did not exist. In 1969, it was sold to the American company Emerson, founded in 1890 by John Emerson. And Sanyo Electric bought the brand from Emerson in 1975 - in order to sell its products in the States under a brand already known to consumers there, supposedly still American.
