Silver - is a trademark of the Japanese Shin-Shirasuna Electric Corp. founded in the 1960s, its predecessor Shirasuna Electric, went bankrupt in 1957. In 1994, Shin-Shirasuna Electric Corp. was renamed "Technol Ace Corporation", later absorbed by Hitachi. The American division existed from 1974 to 1997. The company produced a large number of cassette tape recorders under its own brand Silver, and also acted as an OEM manufacturer. From 1964 to 1978, the main production was in Japan, by 1982 most of the local production was closed and by 1984 the company moved to Taiwan, Kaosing. By the end of the 80s, production in Taiwan was reduced and a plant was opened in Malaysia. During this same period, Shin-Shirasun bought the electronic consumer goods business of Harman-Kardon, later returning it in 1985, continuing to remain the main manufacturer of audio equipment.
