Standard

Standard - a brand of the Japanese company Standard Industries, which had been manufacturing and selling radios and tape recorders since 1953 under the name "Standard Radio Industries." According to documents, Standard Industries began selling them before other Japanese companies. In the late 1960s, the company entered into a partnership with the American company Superscope and began producing products for Marantz, a subsidiary of Superscope. In 1975, the company's name was changed to "Marantz Japan Co., Ltd." Since then, they have manufactured all Marantz products, but continued to produce and sell radio equipment under the "STANDARD" brand, as well as under the "SUPERSCOPE" brand of their partner company. The Standard brand was also used by the Irish company Waltham Electronics, a manufacturer of cheap radios and household appliances, which went bankrupt in 1992.
