Superscope - the American company was incorporated in 1954 and initially focused on implementing widescreen cinema technology (SuperScope). From 1957 to 1975, the company served as the exclusive distributor of Sony tape recorders in the United States. In 1964, it acquired Saul Marantz’s company (Marantz), a manufacturer of high-end audio equipment; subsequently, more affordable audio gear and portable cassette decks were produced under the Superscope and Marantz brands. In the 1970s, the company produced "Story Teller" sets for children—popular educational and entertainment kits consisting of an illustrated children's book and an audio cassette containing a narration (such as fairy tales or Bible stories).
