Tascam
Tascam - the professional audio equipment division of the Japanese corporation TEAC. The company began as the research and development group of TASC (TEAC Audio Systems Corp.), exploring the potential of TEAC recording technologies in products for musicians and recording studios. In 1971, TASCAM (TASC America Corp.) was founded to distribute TASC products in the United States. It pioneered the home recording phenomenon with the creation of the "project studio" and is considered the inventor of the Portastudio, the first cassette-based multi-channel home studio tape recorder.
In 1973, TEAC merged Tascam with TEAC Corporation of America (TCA).
