Sanyo - SANYO Electric Works was founded in 1947 in the Japanese city of Osaka by an employee of the Matsushita concern and the son-in-law of its founder. In the early 1970s, Sanyo became one of the largest companies producing home tape recorders and car stereo systems. Later, Sanyo became the largest developer and manufacturer of various types of batteries. In addition to the Sanyo name, the OTTO and ORA trademarks (for the domestic Japanese market), as well as Fisher (for the US and European markets) were used for production. In 2009, Sanyo was acquired (included in the group of companies) by Panasonic.
