AGFA - company AGFA was founded in 1867. The AGFA brand name appeared in 1897. In 1964, Agfa merged with the Belgian company Gevaert to create the Agfa-Gevaert group, which specialized in chemical production. Its core products were photo and motion picture film, followed by cameras. Cassette production began in 1967. In 1991, the magnetic tape and compact cassette division was sold to BASF.
