Nakamichi - Japanese company founded in 1948. From 1973 to 1993, Nakamichi, under the leadership of radio engineers brothers Etsuro (English) and Niro Nakamichi (Japanese: 中道仁郎), became a leading developer and manufacturer of standard cassette decks. In 1993, with the fading demand for cassette equipment, the company ceased production and, unable to find new niches in the market, effectively ceased to exist by the end of the 1990s. The Nakamichi trademark was transferred to the Hong Kong company Grande Holdings.
