Marantz - officially founded by Saul B. Marantz in 1953 in the USA. In 1964 the company was sold and in 1966 together with Standard Radio Corp the company introduced products to the Japanese market. Gradually production moved from the USA to Japan, and Superscope bought out a controlling stake in Standard Radio Corp. in 1975 the name was changed to Marantz Japan Inc. Due to increasing competition in the world markets, assets, rights to the Marantz trademark and all representative offices were gradually sold to Philips by 1992. In 2001 Marantz Japan Inc. acquired all rights to the trademark and bought out all overseas branches engaged in sales. In 2002, Denon and Marantz merged into D&M Holding
