Pathé Marconi - Pathé-Marconi Musical and Electric Industries was founded by EMI in 1936 through the merger of the French gramophone company founded in 1899 (a subsidiary of the English gramophone company) with the Compagnie générale des machines parlantes Pathé frères. By the end of the 1940s, Pathé-Marconi had become one of the largest music industry companies in Europe, manufacturing records for its own labels and many other independent brands, as well as televisions and radio transmitters. In 1972, the company was renamed Pathé Marconi EMI. In 2011, it was acquired by Universal Music Group, and in 2013, it was sold to Warner Music Group. The Pathé-Marconi name was acquired in 2008 by a Seine-et-Marne company, a communications equipment manufacturer. The company ceased operations in 2011.
