Aurex - Toshiba's trademark for high-end audio equipment, a coined word meaning "audio" and "rex" (Latin for king). Beginning in 1969, it gradually became a separate brand for certain models sold by Toshiba, and from 1973 to 1990, it was the company's independent audio brand. In 2016, it was revived by the Toshiba Lifestyle subsidiary, Toshiba EL Trading (TLET).
