Zonal - Racal-Zonal Ltd. was one of the most prominent British manufacturers of magnetic media from the 1960s to 1980s, producing professional audio tapes, video tapes, magnetically coated motion picture film, and computer magnetic tapes. Zonal was founded in 1954 and initially focused on sound stripping film for the film industry. In 1956, Zonal Film (Magnetic Coatings) Ltd. was spun off to produce magnetic media. In 1964, the company was acquired by Ilford Ltd., and in 1971, it was sold to Racal Electronics. Since 1972, the company has been known as Racal-Zonal Ltd.
