Sharp - Sharp Corporation, a Japanese electronics company, was founded in 1912 and incorporated as the Metalworking Institute in 1924. Sharp was known as a mass-market electronics manufacturer renowned for its quality, durability, and affordability. In 1976, the company entered the high-end stereo market with the Optonica brand, introducing high-end receivers, amplifiers, speakers, turntables, and cassette recorders. The Optonica line featured high-quality, technologically advanced components. Since 2016, the company has been majority-owned by Taiwanese manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., better known as Foxconn.
