Nagaoka - The company was founded in May 1940 as Nagaoka Watch Parts Manufacturing Co., Ltd., specializing primarily in watch parts.
The company subsequently expanded into diamond processing and precision parts manufacturing, and in December 1950, it changed its name to Nagaoka Seiki Gem Industry Co., Ltd., focusing on the production of internal components for electricity meters using quartz crystal technology.
In the early 1950s, Nagaoka successfully developed the first sapphire stylus for vinyl records, which went on sale in 1958.
In 1971, the company changed its name to Nagaoka Co., Ltd., and in 1973, it began producing diamond-tipped styluses for record players. Around the same time, it also began manufacturing and selling audio accessories. This division was closed in 1990.
