National - a trademark used since 1925 by Panasonic Corporation (formerly Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.) to sell home appliances, personal appliances, and industrial equipment. It was the flagship brand for most Matsushita products, including audio and video equipment, and in 1988, following the worldwide success of the Panasonic brand, it was merged into National Panasonic. In Japan, home appliances were sold under the National brand until the end of 2008.
