Quantegy - The company was founded in 1945 as Orradio Industries to produce magnetic tape for the US military. In 1959, Ampex acquired Orradio Industries. In 1995, Ampex (along with 3M) sold the Ampex Recording Media Corporation division to Equitable Life Insurance, which became Quantegy Inc., and later changed its name to Quantegy Recording Solutions. In early 2005, after filing for bankruptcy protection, Quantegy closed its plant and resumed operations under new management. Magnetic tape production ceased in 2007, with most of the production facilities sold in 2008.
