SONOVOX - Comércio e Indústria de Suportes de Som, Lda. was a Portuguese company engaged in the manufacture and assembly of audio media starting in 1975. It later became part of the record label Movieplay Portuguesa, which had been operating in Lisbon since 1977 under the leadership of José Serafim.
In March 1983, its capital was increased from 600,000 to 6,600,000 escudos, with equal contributions made by António Lemos Simões, Humberto da Silva Gonçalves, and José Manuel Marques Serafim.
At the end of 1986, the capital was increased again, reaching 30 million escudos.
In September 1989, the company underwent a legal transformation from an *Lda.* (limited liability company) to an *S.A.* (public limited company), becoming SONOVOX - Comércio e Indústria de Suportes de Som, S.A. At the same time, its capital was raised to 100,000,000 escudos.
In 1988, SONOVOX held a stake in the manufacturing company SONOVIS — Indústria de Suportes Audio e Vídeo, Lda., which later became a major enterprise within the group, focusing on CD and video production.
